Why I do what I do

Updated: Aug 29

Since the age of about 4 I have loved flowers. As a little girl I believed that flowers were the homes of the fairies and gnomes.

Along the path of life and growing up I lost my belief in fairies, gnomes and flower castles. It was only later in my life that Meadow Valley Flower Farm was born in my heart. It was also born during a time where I went through a very deep valley and difficult season. And it started with something as small as seeds. Seeds became the princesses of the garden again. Beautifully dressed in abundance. I tested here and there, kept gardening, trying new things. As time went on I found myself again and started dreaming again. I realised there are so many women out there, just like me, who have lost sight of God's beauty in life and in them.

This is what gets me back at it everyday. The belief that my work and the flowers we produce can make a difference in people's lives. If our flowers bring a smile to your face, then we have accomplished our vision. Do not compare your garden or flowers (or life) with other people or flower farmers. We all make mistakes. We are all still learning! Focus on learning from others and enjoy your own road with flowers. Let us start to take a look at our own flowers and lives and say wow look what I have grown from seed!

Some days will be harder than other days and more days will be good. Let us help each other and grow healing flowers. Healing for ourselves and others. Enjoy every minute of the good and bad. My story is evidence that you too can start over again, or start something new - no matter how old you are or where you are in life. So if you were looking for a sign to do the thing, here it is.

This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and feel glad in it. 🌞 - Mariëtte
