Hello flower friends!
Itâs a proper chilly winterâs day here at Meadow Valley, but inside the grow room, itâs warm, bright and buzzing with new life. Weâre kicking off our early blooming flowers and there's no time for sitting still.
Right now, weâve got over 1,000 little seedlings under lights and our two greenhouses are already filling up with happy plants. Weâre growing cool-weather favourites like:
⢠Snapdragons
⢠Strawflowers
⢠Rudbeckia, and a whole bunch more.
Even though it's cold outside, these hardy flowers love it. They'll be ready to bloom in about 10 weeks. Isnât that just the best?
Iâve been using soil blocks for all our seed starting and wow, what a game changer. No more plastic trays and the seedlings grow up stronger and more robust. They germinate much faster.
If youâve ever struggled to get your seeds going (weâve all been there), send me an email, Iâll happily share my soil block recipe with you. I know how frustrating it is to buy seeds only for them to not germinate.
So for now, itâs plant, plant, plant and before we know it, weâll have our flowers ready for the summer.
If youâre thinking about growing your own flowers this winter or youâre looking for quality flower seeds, fresh-cut blooms or even dried flowers, youâll find everything you need in our online shop: www.meadowflower.co.za. Weâd love to grow with you.
Until next time, keep warm and keep planting! đą -MariĂŤtte
